People’s equality, diversity and human rights are always our first priority. The report states that we always centre the service’s vision and values of ‘Family, Impact and Teaming’ around the people we support. And we stand by this statement with all our efforts.

We try to imprint kindness and devotion in everything that we do. Thus, we are proud to be considered the first port of call whenever a complex situation needs attention.

‘’It is amazing to see the team’s hard work and dedication to the people we support to be recognised throughout this report. I’m proud to see our clinician-centricity makes such a positive impact on the people we support.’’

said Gemma Clark, general manager at Leaf Complex Care.

What was the summary of the findings from the CQC inspection?

Leaf Complex Care Exeter provides care and support to people living in their homes so they can live as independently as possible. This is provided with 24-hour complex care packages.

Various methods were used to assess the quality and safety of the service people under our care receive. And our team at Exeter passed with flying colours.

These are the comments from the relatives and the people that receive care from our branch in Exeter:

  • “I think they are amazing. I am lucky I have such good carers for him. They are all really skilled”, “Staff are a little bit fabulous. It is a really good team. They are very tuned in to his needs, very caring and supportive. They are very knowledgeable. They know about autism.”
  • “I think they are brilliant. I tend to see the same carers, and they are really good. They are on point with his needs. He likes them.”
  • A relative commented, “I have no concerns about the service.” People lived safely and free from unwarranted restrictions because the service assessed, monitored and managed safety well. There were comprehensive risk assessments in place covering all aspects of the service and support provided.
  • “It means a lot to me to see such a well-organised, caring, well-structured provider that actually cares about the people they support.”
  • “I have no concerns, and I have confidence in the staff. I speak to the registered manager every day. He and the staff know when I am upset.”
  • “The staff are really nice, lovely. They are caring and always help me out. I go out almost every day; I love it.” A relative commented, “They are very good with him; they know him so well.”

The Conclusion from The CQC Inspection

Many amazing things were mentioned in the report. The overall conclusion had a positive note, and we could not be prouder.

Here are the things concluded from the CQC report.

  • Right culture: Ethos, values, attitudes and behaviours of leaders and care staff ensure people using services lead confident, inclusive and empowered lives
  • People’s equality, diversity and human rights are respected. The service’s vision and values of ‘Family, Impact and Teaming’ were centred around the people they supported
  • The organisation’s statement of purpose documented a philosophy of maximising people’s life choices, encouraging independence and people having a sense of worth and value
  • Catalyst Care Group’s philosophy is embedded in Leaf Complex Care Exeter and referred to with all interactions and training. For example, people were constantly encouraged to lead rich and meaningful lives. The company continued to learn from its staff in a two-way conversation to benefit people receiving a service
  • People are supported by the staff receiving relevant and good-quality evidence-based practice training. This included training in the wide range of strengths and impairments people with a learning disability and or autistic people may have, mental health needs, communication tools and positive behaviour support
  • Specialist roles are created in-house to further benefit people
  • The provider worked hard to instil a culture of care in which staff truly valued and promoted people’s individuality, protected their rights, and enabled them to develop and flourish
  • Staff felt extremely respected, supported, and valued by the provider, which supported a positive and improvement-driven culture
