Overview
What does it mean to live a life of your choosing? For many, it’s the feeling of safety, choice, and connection – a place where one’s voice is heard, and life unfolds on their terms. For Rylee, this sentiment is no different, as he confidently says: ‘’I get the life I want, not what you guys want.’’
We support Rylee’s journey through person-centred practices, filling his days with the simple joys he finds in laminating, doing schoolwork, swimming, and sharing train-spotting adventures with his staff. In just three months, Rylee has made remarkable progress, reducing challenging incidents from daily to possibly once a week and attending his mother’s 50th birthday, a carefully planned visit with the therapy team.
When we first met Rylee, he was experiencing residual trauma from a hospitalisation that marked a challenging chapter in his life. Today, Rylee lives in a home where his personal preferences guide every aspect of care. It’s a space where he can grow, explore his hobbies, and pursue his dreams.
During the holidays, we spent some time with Rylee and captured the little moments of happiness as he eagerly unwrapped his presents. Watch the video for the heartwarming moments that truly give meaning to our work at Leaf Complex Care.
